On the Médoc wine road, come and discover this small part of the Gironde, rich in its territory and its gastronomy! Hourtin has been a recognised tourist destination for many years. A town steeped in history that abounds in varied landscapes and tasty dishes!

Hourtin, a varied territory

Hourtin is an ideal town for water sports enthusiasts as well as for nature lovers. Hourtin benefits from a perfect geographical situation to discover the landscapes of the Médoc. Its weekly morning market invites you to discover the flavours of the Médoc region: wine and its various varieties, charcuterie, seafood and cannelés! Something to tantalise your taste buds! You will find the market on Thursday mornings all year round. In July and August, it is present on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.  

You can cycle from the campsite to Hourtin-Port and discover the beautiful beaches of the port, the beach of the Banana and also the beaches of the lake of Hourtin. Surfing and kayaking are popular in the area.   

Between lake and ocean, ideal for nature and sport lovers

Situated 2.5km from the campsite, the Hourtin lake, the largest natural lake in France, is renowned for its 2km of large beach and its many activities: sailing, stand up, paddle, kayaking, splash park, fishing, hundreds of kilometres of cycle paths, numerous playgrounds… A children’s paradise is within your reach: the Island for children. Accessible only on foot or by bike, your little ones can have fun in the wooden castle or in a gigantic spider’s web.

Reaching other seaside towns during your camping holiday in Gironde

During a stay in Hourtin, there are plenty of activities on offer for holidaymakers who come to enjoy the pleasures of camping in Gironde. Those who wish can also explore the region by visiting the Dune du Pilat, Lacanau, Carcans, Bordeaux and many others!

A renowned seaside resort in the region, it hosts a major surfing competition every year between the best surfers in the world. Between villas and beaches, Lacanau is full of breathtaking views.
